ABOUT THE SESSIONS

ABOUT MONTESSORI

  • Montessori is an educational philosophy and way of supporting a child’s development that was founded over 100 years ago by Maria Montessori, the first woman in Italy to become a doctor. Through years of carefully observing children, she recognized that children often struggle not because they are incapable, but because they are living in a world designed mainly for adults.

She began changing the environment by creating child-sized furniture, tools, and spaces children could actually use independently. Through her observations, she also discovered that children pass through different stages of development, each with unique ways of thinking, learning, and growing.

Montessori is built on the understanding that when children are given a calm, orderly, and prepared environment suited to their developmental needs, they naturally become more focused, capable, independent, and eager to learn.

At its heart, Montessori is about helping children learn to “do it themselves.” And through those meaningful everyday experiences, children develop confidence, self-respect, concentration, independence, and a genuine joy in learning.

  • No, not at all. Montessori at home is not about creating a “perfect” Montessori home or following every principle flawlessly. It is about learning to observe your child, understanding their developmental needs, and creating a home environment that supports their growth in a calm, intentional, and doable and practical way for your family.

Every family, home, culture, budget, and child is different. My goal is not to pressure families into perfection, but to help you simply apply Montessori principles in a way that is practical, peaceful, and sustainable in your everyday family life. Even small intentional changes at home can make a meaningful difference in supporting your child’s development.

  • No, Montessori is not only for toddlers. Montessori is a philosophy and way of supporting a child’s development that can be applied from infancy all the way through the teenage years and beyond.

However, the early years especially ages 0–3 are often given special attention because this is one of the most foundational stages of development. During this time, children absorb so much from their environment naturally, and the foundations for independence, language, movement, concentration, emotional security, and social development are being formed.

Even so, Montessori principles can continue to beautifully support older children through hands-on learning, independence, responsibility, respect, and nurturing their natural love for learning at every stage.

  • No, you do not need expensive Montessori materials to practice Montessori at home. In fact, Montessori is much more about your mindset, your home environment, your daily rhythms, and the way you interact with your child than owning many materials.

Simple everyday items from your home can already support Montessori learning beautifully things like small pitchers for pouring, baskets, child-sized tools, kitchen activities, books, practical life activities, and opportunities for independence.

While some Montessori materials can be helpful and thoughtfully designed, children learn best through real-life experiences and meaningful participation in everyday life. My goal is never to pressure families into buying expensive materials, but to help you create a calm, functional, and intentional environment that works realistically for your family and budget.

And if you need help with finding or creating Montessori inspired materials appropriate for every age, I do provide product links for your convenience.

  • Yes, absolutely. Montessori can work beautifully in small homes or apartments. Montessori is not about having a large Pinterest-perfect space, but about creating an environment that is intentional, peaceful, accessible, and supportive of your child’s independence.

Even in small spaces, simple changes can make a big difference such as using low shelves, creating child-accessible areas, rotating toys and activities, simplifying clutter, and involving your child in everyday life. Often, a smaller space can even encourage more thoughtful organization and connection within the home.

Montessori is meant to support real families in real homes, and it can be adapted in a practical and realistic way no matter the size of your space.

  • That is completely okay. A Montessori home does not need to look “Pinterest-perfect” or match a certain aesthetic to support your child well. Montessori is not about having the perfect shelves, furniture, or setup it is about creating a home that is intentional, functional, respectful of the child, and supportive of independence in a way that works for your real family life.

Every home is different, and Montessori can be adapted to your space, culture, routines, budget, and family needs. Even small, thoughtful changes in your environment and daily interactions can have a meaningful impact on your child’s development.

PARENTS CORNER

  • That is completely normal, and you are not expected to figure everything out all at once. Many parents feel overwhelmed when beginning Montessori because there is so much information online and pressure to “do it perfectly.”

That is why my approach focuses on helping families start simply and realistically. We take things step by step based on your child’s stage, your home, and your family’s needs without pressure for perfection. Sometimes even a few small, intentional changes can already bring more clarity, peace, and confidence into your home.

You do not need to have all the answers before starting. You simply need a willingness to learn, observe your child, and grow along the journey.

  • No, not at all. Montessori at home can work for all kinds of families including working parents, stay-at-home parents, homeschooling families, caregivers, and families with busy schedules.

Montessori is not about spending every hour doing activities with your child. It is about creating simple, intentional ways to support your child’s independence, involvement in everyday life, and development within your family’s natural rhythm and routine.

Even small changes in the home environment, daily routines, and the way we interact with children can make a meaningful difference regardless of how busy life may be.

  • No, absolutely not. My role is not to criticize, shame, or make parents feel like they are failing. Parenting is already deeply personal and often overwhelming, and I want our sessions to feel encouraging, supportive, and safe.

My approach is to gently guide, observe, and help you better understand your child and your home environment with clarity and compassion. Rather than focusing on “what you are doing wrong,” we focus on practical and realistic ways to support your child and bring more peace, confidence, and intention into your home.

Montessori is a journey of learning and growth for both the child and the parent not a pursuit of perfection.

  • The Family Club is a special space for families who have availed of any of my sessions and desire continued encouragement and support in their Montessori at home journey.

All families who book a session automatically become part of the Family Club, where they will have access to helpful guide videos, lessons, activities, resources, and other supportive materials designed to help bring more clarity and confidence into everyday life at home.

Depending on the session or support package availed, some resources and access periods may vary or be available for a limited time. My hope is for the Family Club to feel like an encouraging extension of support beyond our sessions together.
