Hi, I’m Suzette

I’ve been a Montessori mom for 6 years and counting, and my passion is to help parents like you feel more confident and clear as you support your children to thrive the Montessori way.

Montessorimumaph is my little space where I share honest insights, practical guidance, and helpful resources from one busy parent to another to make your family’s Montessori journey feel less overwhelming and more doable.

I truly believe Montessori can be done simply at home. You don’t need a perfect setup to follow its principles in meaningful ways even if you’re working full-time, living simply, or figuring things out little by little.

You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Let’s work together to nurture your child’s growth and help them reach their full potential.

MY MONTESSORI JOURNEY

THE LONG STORY

WHAT MY CHILDHOOD HAS TAUGHT ME

Growing up, I believed that good grades and achievements were what mattered most. But when both of my parents became sick with cancer, my perspective on life began to change.

I was forced to step up early because of our situation, learning how to cook, clean, and help care for them at a young age. During that season, I became deeply grateful for the simple life skills my parents had taught me, especially my mom, who would often say, “If you don’t learn these, how will you care for your own family?” Those words stayed with me.

I realized I didn’t want to wait for hardship before teaching my own child how to care for herself and navigate life with confidence and independence.

Today, I see many people who excel academically yet struggle with basic life skills, and it reminds me that beyond achievements, what truly matters is raising children who can care for themselves, work with their hands, be grateful and be good stewards of the God-given resources we have, to show respect and serve others, and find joy in learning and everyday life.

HOW I KNEW ABOUT MONTESSORI

Our Montessori journey began in 2018, while I was pregnant with my daughter. A dear friend asked if I had heard of Montessori I thought it was just a school, but she shared that it’s an approach that encourages children to help themselves and respects their natural potential. At first, I found it hard to believe can young children really do things on their own? Yet something about it felt right. As I began to explore, I was amazed. I saw young children preparing their own food, a 4-year-old serving and pouring drink to her 2 year old sibling, caring for themselves without always need help from their parents, and working with calm focus and quiet confidence. It was beautiful, and it opened my eyes to how capable children truly are when given the chance. That realization stayed with me, and even before my daughter was born, I knew I wanted to learn more and do things differently.

MONTESSORI AT HOME

The Montessori approach changed the way I see children, my own daughter and myself as a mother and parent. It invited me to slow down, to truly observe her with patience, and to understand her where she is in her natural development. Instead of rushing or stepping in too quickly, I learned to trust her abilities and support her with intention through purposeful activities, thoughtfully prepared materials, and a home environment that allows her the freedom to move, explore, and grow independently.

More than anything, it shifted my mindset from doing things for her to gently guiding her so she can learn to do things for herself. And in that process, I began to see her confidence, focus, and independence slowly unfold.

At the time, Montessori-inspired materials or purposeful toys for babies were hard to find locally, so I started creating them by hand for her, simple materials made with care and purpose. When I began sharing our journey online, many moms reached out asking how to start, how to do Montessori at home, and even requesting the materials I made. And that’s when I realized… many parents were searching for the same guidance I once needed.

MONTESSORI TRAINING AND
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

What began as something personal slowly became a passion. I eventually stepped back from sharing online to focus on deeper learning and pursued training with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the organization established by Dr. Montessori’s family to preserve the integrity of her work. I also completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education with the Council For Creative Education, Finland to further my understanding of early childhood development all with the desire to gently guide and support parents on their journey.
